They say experience is the best teacher. For Yahoo! Human Resources Director, Beth Haba, knowledge and experience pointed her in the best direction.
Yahoo! Had increased its staff to 70 employees during its first year and was rapidly outgrowing its manual HR system. Beth needed a software package she could implement quickly, without spending a lot of time training herself and others. Abra HRTM from Sage Software filled the bill.
Having worked with Abra HR prior to joining Yahoo!, Beth was familiar with its features, as well as with Abra"s Customer service and support.
"Yahoo! Needed an inexpensive system that could be up and running quickly," explains Beth. "I'd had good experiences with Abra HR in the past, and was quite comfortable with its features. Abra's Customer Service had always come through with any assistance I needed, so I knew that if I ever ran into a problem, I wouldn't be left high and dry."
Aside from having the features Beth required, Abra HR also provided to be a good fit for Yahoo!'s size and growth. To assure Abra HR would serve Yahoo!'s future needs, Beth looked at several larger companies' software systems, which convinced her Abra HR could handle Yahoo!'s needs even if the company grew beyond its expectations.

While shopping for an HR system, Beth contacted Abra Business Partner Cozart Consulting, with whom she had worked while at her previous position.

Timely Reports Popular With Managers
Abra's standard reports have been exceptionally useful to Yahoo! Trying to create them manually would
have been extremely cumbersome, according to Beth. She especially likes Abra HR's built-in report writer for its report - generating capabilities.
Abra HR's ability to track performance and create reports has become a popular feature with Yahoo!'s management.
"I'm able to provide printouts of performance-related issues while reminding managers of review dates," relates Beth.
"Starting later this year, we plan to review everyone at the same time. That would have presented an overwhelming crush of paperwork before. Now we'll be able to access information directly from our database to quickly provide us with the reports we'll need."
Easy to Learn, Easy to Use
Though Beth hadn't used Abra HR for detailed input for some time prior to having it installed at yahoo!, it didn't take her long to get up to speed.
"Abra HR is the kind of system that lets you pick right up on it after you've been away for awhile," says Beth. "Its and easy system on which to re-train yourself."
Her department's newly hired human resources coordinator became productive with Abra HR in a matter of days, thanks to the system's ease-of-use.
Remarks Beth, Abra HR's Windows format is very user-friendly and easy to work with. And it's an easy system on which to train others.
